SAHAS is an umbrella organization and a federation comprising over 27 independent Global Afghan Hindu and Sikh Associations. established as a 501(c)(3) public charity on August 15th, 2021, in New York, USA.
The primary objective of SAHAS is to formalize collaboration as an union representing Afghan Hindus and Sikhs worldwide.
Members share a common mission and work collectively achieve meaningful objectives, uniting as a federation of associations or societies to support one another in advancing their shared cause.
SAHAS coordinates activities and pools resources to provide financial and educational opportunities for at-risk and underprivileged women, children, and seniors living in Afghanistan and beyond. The organization is dedicated to empowering these vulnerable groups to access essential resources that enable them to pursue their aspirations for a better life. In addition, SAHAS promotes dignity, hope and cultural awareness while focusing on the preservation of native languages and traditions. It aims to educate future generations about their history and values, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility.
By reinventing the ways in which knowledge is shared, stories are told, and inspiration conveyed to younger generations,
SAHAS seeks to cultivate relationships that positively impact the lives of individuals in the community.
Furthermore, the organization is committed to organizing international festivals, producing and sponsoring public events that celebrate Sikh Hindu principles, and inspiring healthier communities through connections to diverse music, food traditions,
and folklife programs.
